Manly Bushwalk - Sydney

The Spit to Manly walk is a classic bushwalk on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The walk follows a well-maintained track and provides beautiful views over Middle Harbour. This walk is great for those looking for exercise or just a stroll along the shoreline of Sydney Harbour.

About Manly:

Manly is a beach-side suburb of northern Sydney, Australia. It is 17 kilometres (11 mi) north-east of the Sydney central business district.

How to reach?

By bus: There are enough buses with good frequency to reach Spit Junction from city as well as other parts of Sydney.

By road: For people coming by car, there is an ample parking space at the Spit junction.

We started the walk from Spit bridge. Its approximately 10 km walk from Spit to Manly.

There are good cafes at this spot for morning coffee. To begin with we were a bit apprehensive of walking the whole 10 km stretch. But eventually, it turned out to be no big deal and our first longest trek completed with no hurdles.

Justling thorugh the bushes. There are few staircases along the walk, so a word of caution for people who have trouble walking up and down the trail.

As you reach near to Manly, enroute there are beautifull houses alonside the pathway with lovely views of the bay. The waterfront is also packed with boats and yachts of the people living nearby. I so wished to live here, in this beautiful suburb.

Ending the trek in style with a well deserved meal of burgers, chips and wine at the Manly beach. ;)

There are two options to get back to the city from Manly using public transport. You can either take the bus back or the scenic ferry ride to Circular Quay.
